Family Hike

A few weeks back we went on a family hike. We enjoyed hiking before I got pregnant last Summer, but once I got pregnant that came to a screeching halt. I don't handle pregnancy well. Anyway, we hiked to Donut Falls up near Salt Lake City. It's a short easy hike that's good for people who aren't used to hiking or have small children. Check to both of those.

We started the day off right; with Mountain Dew (for me and Ryan) and donuts from Provo Bakery for breakfast. You can't hike Donut Falls without having donuts. It should be a sin. The delightful sugar high gave us the needed burst of energy to get going that morning. Mornings are pretty rough around here with a new baby. We drove up to Cottonwood Canyon where the trail begins. The full hike round trip is 3.5 miles. It's an easy gentle incline up to the falls. It's called Donut Falls because the water has eroded away at a rock until it's created a hole through the rock. You can hike all the way up to the base of the falls. It's very pretty and rewarding.

I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys simple half-day trips in the Salt Lake area. And there's really no excuses. My 4-year old did it and rocked.

January Was A Cold and Boring Month

Like I said, I'm back posting and I'm doing this by going through my pictures and seeing what we did. Apparently, January was a very boring month for our us. I'm not surprised. I was 8 months pregnant and miserable, so it was a rare treat when I felt good enough to get out and do stuff.

We did pay a visit to the BYU Paleontology Museum though. We were living in Provo at the time and it was pretty close to our house. Russell is somewhat interested in dinosaurs so it made for a good afternoon trip.



I also went shooting with Ryan a couple times. I totally nailed an alien invader. Don't mess!



Ryan went on a business trip to AZ, so I took Russell and we went up to Logan to visit my grandma while he was away. Russell got to experience the great Macey's alligator donut for the first time.



And this was the mess Rigby created while we were gone that I got to come home to. At least he didn't eat the rug and have terrible bowel issues this time.
